Cappadocia

Located in central Anatolia, Cappadocia is a region of superlatives. Indeed, it presents a surreal panorama set with valleys, canyons, fairy chimneys, troglodyte villages and rock churches. Hiking ideas? You will be spoiled for choice between the Red Valley, the Rose Valley and, of course, the Love Valley. From this site, you can admire hundreds of colorful hot air balloons flooding the sky at sunrise.

The Taurus Mountains

Let’s stay in this surprising country to take the direction of the Taurus. This mountain range stretches over nearly 600 km and separates the central Anatolian plateau and the Mediterranean region. Its highest peak is Kayseri, which stands at 3,916 m above sea level. The climb is quite tedious, but you will be rewarded with timeless scenery alternating steep cliffs, deep valleys, mountain pastures and peaceful lakes.

The Lycian Way

The Lycian Way is a great hiking trail that every trekker should do at least once. It takes about a month to cross the succession of footpaths which stretch for 540 km between Antalya and Fethiye. Notable stops include the seaside village of Ölüdeniz and its famous Blue Lagoon, the Valley of the Butterflies and the ruins of Olympos. Also, do not miss Patara beach which stretches for 12 km and is home to loggerhead turtles.

The Kaçkar mountains

The Kaçkar Mountains are located in the far northeast of Turkey, in the Dead Sea region. It takes about 30 days to complete the entire route, but it’s worth it! You will have the opportunity to browse a sublime panorama dotted with pastures, alpine lakes, meadows, villages of shepherds and ridges offering a 360° view. The most seasoned hikers can attempt the ascent of Kaçkar Dağı which culminates at 4,000 m altitude.

Mount Uludag

Rising to an altitude of 2,543 m, Mount Uludağ – or “Great Mountain” – is the privileged meeting place in Turkey for all lovers of skiing and trekking. The starting point of the trail is in Bursa, a city nicknamed “the green” because of its many lush gardens. An idyllic picture awaits you on the heights: forests, ridges, mountain pastures, glacial lakes, waterfalls and a breathtaking view of the ocean.
